Interstate Licensure: Has the Time Come?

During the pandemic Ascension associates generously volunteered to travel to other states to work in other Ascension hospitals when there were spikes in COVID cases and not enough staff to cover the influx of patients.

Before this could happen licensure of these individuals had to be addressed so that associates from one state could practice in another state without worrying about a delay in paperwork or processing time.  At times, staff were needed within days, not weeks.

Because of this need and fulfillment, we may be able to provide staff across state lines not just during times of crisis, but when it is needed for other reasons too. See the current article(s) in the August issue of Health Affairs about interstate licensure.
