Nursing CEUs and Recording Outside Credits in myLearning

Question: Where can I get FREE CEUs for nurses, and how do I record outside credits in MyLearning?

Library Services offers a number of FREE Nursing CEU options available through our subscription databases.  Details can be found on the following LibGuide:

                CEUs for Nurses LibGuide
Be sure to check the various tabs for details on how to get credits through the different options.
  • NRC Plus and Medscape would be free.
  • The other options may be free, or involve some cost.

You will have to search for your chosen topics, and see what is on offer via each resource.

The page also contains a document explaining how to record CEUs in MyLearning.

There is a separate LibGuide for Medical Assistants to help them locate and obtain CEUs:

New Sentinel Event Alert: Managing the risks of direct oral anticoagulants

Managing the risks of direct oral anticoagulants

Anticoagulants have been named second of the top 10 medications involved in error incidents causing death or serious harm. While DOACs offer ease of use to patients, stopping bleeding events in patients on DOACs is more complicated, requiring different strategies than those for patients on warfarin (Coumadin®) and heparin. Unlike the more widely available reversal agents for warfarin and heparin, reversal agents for DOACs are lesser known and may not be available in every care setting. Also, some DOACs have no FDA-approved reversal agent at this time. Therefore, bleeding complications can be severe if these patients are not assessed according to guidelines on the management of DOACs. Intracranial hemorrhage is the most serious emergent bleeding risk.
