Customize PubMed with MyNCBI to tap into our Ascension Wisconsin FullText

Did you know you can use MyNCBI to tap into our Ascension Wisconsin fulltext offerings through PubMed?

What is MyNCBI?

MyNCBI is a tool that retains user information and database preferences to provide customized services for PubMed, and other NCBI databases.

MyNCBI allows you to:

  • Save searches
  • Select display formats and
  • Filtering options
  • Set up automatic searches that are sent by e-mail
  • Set up Outside Tool preferences for PubMed that will tap into our AW fulltext and allow you to order articles directly from AW Library Services.

Configuring MyNCBI to show Ascension Wisconsin (AW) holdings and journal article icons requires following these steps only one time.   The AW preferences should then remain and appear each time you log in.

This filter adds Ascension Wisconsin (AW)  full text journal links to PubMed search results when you are signed in to MyNCBI.  Look for the Ascension logo under fulltext links in PubMed [See image above].  That Ascension icon will be the key to our AW fulltext.

If you already have a MyNCBI Account, log in and follow the steps below:

[If you don't have one already, sign up.  It's free!]

1. Click on MyNCBI at the top right of the PubMed window.

Click on Dashboard.

2. Click on 'NCBI Site Preferences' near the top right of the window.
3.  Click on 'Outside Tool' under PubMed Preferences on the left.

4.   Choose A and Use Control+F to find Ascension Wisconsin.

Choose Ascension Wisconsin and click the radio button to the left to automatically save.

Note: You will NOT have access to other Ascension Library resources unless you are part of those local markets.  So choose wisely.

You do need to be on site using an Ascension Wisconsin computer, or using VPN access to tap into our AW fulltext.
